The academic school provides literacy, adult basic education, and GED classes by qualified, dedicated teachers. The program is administered by a principal and a guidance counselor. Classrooms are structured to operate like other schools conducted throughout the state by the Kentucky Department of Adult Education. Five separate classes are conducted with an average enrollment of 15-20 inmate students in each class.
